Northern Region

The Northern region is a mountainous region comprising natural forests, ridges and deep, narrow, alluvial valleys. For centuries the north area is the center of culture and religion. The lowland northerners are noted as a gentle and hospitable people. Chiang Mai is the major city of the North. Also called "Rose of the North".

Education Tour - Northern Region

Day 1 Bangkok
Arrive at Bangkok International Airport. Travel to your central city hotel for overnight stay. Bangkok is known to the Thais as Krungthep - "The City of Angels"and was established in 1782 by King Rama I, as the capital of Siam. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 2 Bangkok
Morning: Visit the Ministry of Education; to talk about education in Thailand.
Afternoon: Visit the famous Grand Palace and The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, also Vimarn Mek , ‘the world’s largest Golden Teak structure’. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 3 Bangkok - Ayuthaya - Nakhon Sawan
Morning: Travel by coach to Ayuthaya, the former capital of Thailand. Visit the National Art & Craft Centre, a Royal Project and Bang Pa-In, the beautiful former Summer Palace, dating from the 17th century.
Afternoon: After visiting some of Ayuthaya’s historical sites, we drive on through the beautiful scenery to Nakhon Sawan, which is an important city where four rivers, the Ping, Wang,Yom and Nan meet to form the huge Chao Phraya River. Hosted by homestay family in Nakhon Sawan.

Day 4 Nakhon Sawan
Morning: Visit to an Elementary school in Nakhon Sawan.
Afternoon: Visit a Secondary School, students will entertain with Thai cultural display.
Return to homestay family, for overnight in Nakhon Sawan.

Day 5 Nakhon Sawan
Morning: Drive to Phitsanulok, to visit the Teachers College.
Afternoon: Visit the very popular temple, Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, dating back to the Sukhothai Period around 1357. Also see Buddha Image making at a local factory.
Farewell Party with all homestay families, on the final night in Nakhon Sawan.

Day 6 Nakhon Sawan - Sukhothai
Morning: Travel to Sukhothai which was founded in 1238, and was capital of Siam for 120 years.
Afternoon: Visit the Historical Site of the ancient city of Sukhothai.Overnight in Sukhothai.

Day 7 Sukhothai - Chiangmai
Morning: Travel to Chiangmai , an old city of 700 years, is the second largest city in Thailand, located in the highlands of the North and known as "Rose of The North". A major centre for Thai art and handicrafts.
Afternoon: Visit a Home Industry Village, to see handicrafts and souveniers being made. Overnight in Chiangmai.

Day 8 Chiangmai
Morning: Visit to Chiangmai University, a very large campus. Then up to Doi Suthep mountain, to visit the famous temple Wat Prathat Doi Suthep and the nearby Royal Palace; Phuping Rachinevet.
Afternoon: Drive up the scenic Mai Sai Valley, to visit an Elephant Village and a beautiful Orchid Farm. Exciting shopping for bargains at the " Night Bazzar " market. Overnight in Chiangmai.

Day 9 Chiangmai - Bangkok
Morning: A quick trip to Chiangmai Airport, to fly back to Bangkok.
Afternoon: Freetime for shopping or sightseeing in Bangkok - "The City of Angles". Farewell Dinner. Overnight in Bangkok.

Day 10 Departure Home
To Bangkok International Airport, to check-in, ready for departure.
